Anastasios Xepapadeas is Professor Emeritus in the Department of International and European Economic Studies at the Athens University of Economics and Business, where he previously served as Dean of the School of Economic Sciences. He was also Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics at the University of Bologna until 2024. He is an International Member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, a former President of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economics, and a former Chair of the Board of Directors of the Beijer Institute of Ecological Economics of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.


Professor Xepapadeas served as Editor-in-Chief of Environment and Development Economics for ten years and has held editorial positions as Co-Editor of the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management and Environmental and Resource Economics. He has also been a member of the Editorial Committee of the Annual Review of Resource Economics. He currently serves as an editor for PNAS manuscripts.


He has published more than 150 articles in leading academic journals and edited volumes, including the American Economic Review, Environmental and Resource Economics, European Economic Review, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Journal of Economic Geography, Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, Journal of Public Economics, Management Science, PNAS, Nature Climate Change, and Science. In addition, he has authored or edited ten books.


His current research interests include spatiotemporal analysis in economics, the economics of climate change, economic growth, uncertainty, ambiguity and robust control.
